FAQ's
- How do we find you?
Dannevirke is an hour from Palmerston North which is where our closest major airport is. Our office and accommodation complex is just out of town on Weber Road.
- Do you work weekends?
On the whole we will work every fine day that comes along. Its often hard to know when or how long the fine weather will last – so make hay while the sun shines, we say! It is not our policy to work statutory holidays.
- What about days off?
Give us enough advance notice and we will do our best to accommodate your requirements.
- What are your payment options?
As part of the NZ Shearing Contractors Assn we base our payment system on an agreed recommended rate of pay. We pay weekly direct into a nominated bank account. Hourly rates for learners start at $13 per hr.
- Do I need any qualifications?
This would be good but we do offer training. A great attitude is worth more to us.
- What is the cost of staying at the accommodation complex?
We do have a weekly charge to take care of costs, you can authorise us to deduct this straight off your weekly earnings. Current charge is $NZ120 per week, this covers all living costs, which is mainly at our peak times ie. main shear and pre lamb. Outside these times when there's no cook on, the charge is $NZ80 per week.
- What about if I have a friend, can they come too?
Tell us about them and we will try to create a spot for them too
- Do you have a health and safety program?
We do, the health and safety of our teams are of utmost importance. We also have a staff health and safety forum which ensures those who wish to have input get every opportunity to do so.
- What about the competitions and how do we get into them?
We will have all the information about when and where on the "Competition Calendar" page. Chances are we will have staff heading off to the comps anyway, and we often all go as a group – more fun and great support and learning. We really get into this! |
